What's going on in the Shop?

Currently I am working on a kitchen for a home remodel in Newton, Iowa. The project was started around the middle of July after several weeks on planning and designing. The cabinets have taken a little bit more time to make absolutely sure all measurements are correct and squareness is maintained because this particular kitchen will have inset doors and drawers. Accuracy is key with doing inset doors and drawers to maintain the tight tolerances between the doors and the faceframes. Also this kitchen is being built out of quarter sawn red oak (see picture below). You can also find a description of quarter sawn red oak on my website. The drawers will be built using through dovetails that will be visible on the front of the cabinetry. When I start building the drawers I will post pictures so that I can better explain this unique detail. See picture below for an example of a through dovetail joint. Also in one section of the cabinetry there will be an end grain hard maple butcher counter top that I will be fabricating and pictures of that progress will be posted when I start on it.

As of today I have basically all of the cabinets built and next I will be cutting door and drawer parts. Check out the pictures below of the cabinets and the descriptions.
